![]() ![]() The free Kontakt player is cool but (afaik), there aren't a ton instruments/libraries available for it. I know a lot of people who just aren't able to afford Kontakt -never mind the pro libraries. Thank you so much for any suggestions you've made or will be making, as this project continues!Įspecially if it handled both sf2 and sfz files I'm doing this not only for myself, but for some folks who can't afford to do this (and frankly, have no idea this is even possible for them). If you've read about what I'm trying to accomplish and would like to participate, please feel free to comment/suggest anything you think will be helpful. I'd rather have them all use the same SFplayer.but practicality may not allow for that. I only wanted to use Sforzando because they read SFZ files, too.īut perhaps my solution is to have a single instance of Sforzado running (alongside all the other DKS-SF2 instances, which I'd use for any SFZ files I might have. I've successfully done this using "DSK-SF2", which even allows me to have 2 different instances play back at the same time (w/independent ASRD and volume adjustable for each) (I'm using DSK-SF2 as the soundfont player since Sforzando doesn't seem to work.Īnyway, I'd love your suggestions/thoughts about this endeavor.Īnd although I'd thought about doing separate tracks, it, I would rather put all the various instruments/articulation on the same track, as I'd shown in the image. I've attached an image of an fxchain with 11 different instances of my favorite trumpes/articulation, all pre-loaded, and ready to go. Okay.so, to speed up workflow, I thought I'd create orchestral/instrument templates by using Fxchains. On the laptop, I'm running Reaper and using soundfonts.so it's a "sketchpad" for music. ![]() I have Kontakt in my studio, but I am on the road a lot, so I bring my cheap laptop with me. Okay.I've been around knowing that, if you've got a -lot- of knowledge, so let me tell you about what I'm trying to do. I have plenty of soundfonts (including GM), so I am mostly interested in finding the best Soundfont player for my "templates". I'm not quite understanding the reason for this suggestion. A more complex interface will provide sliders for some standard parameters such as volume and pan.ĮDIT: As far as I can tell, FluidSynth is supposed to be threadsafe. Perhaps REAPER can provide a native interface to the FluidSynth library, which can be downloaded as a separate dll or dylib, similar to FFmpeg? At the simplest, the interface simply needs to load SoundFonts into FluidSynth, and the playback can be controlled by the MIDI editor. ![]() * It is available as a shared library that can be used in other programs, and is already used in VLC, MuseScore and some free DAWs.ĪFAIK, it is not available as a VST in Windows, yet. * It is one of very few such players that have implemented the full, updated SoundFont 2 specifications. I don't know what % of users are interested in SoundFonts, but there are dozens of thread asking about SoundFonts and other General MIDI players - the most recent just a few days ago: GM player comes with reaper?.įluidSynth is a free, open source soundfont synthesizer for Window, Mac and Linux: ![]()
